Press release: RWI and Deloitte Partner to Advance Groundbreaking New Digital Innovation for enhanced Humanitarian Law Compliance Monitoring

Lund, 29 January 2025 – The Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI) is embarking on an exciting new partnership with Deloitte, the largest professional services network in the world, operating in more than 150 countries. Through the collaboration, Deloitte provides pro bono support to RWI’s International Humanitarian Law Compliance Monitoring Database (ICMD) initiative, developing the first prototype for a cutting-edge digital solution to enhance accountability and compliance with international humanitarian law.

First Workshop Sets the Stage

Last week marked a significant milestone in the partnership, as experts from Deloitte and RWI convened at the first workshop held at Deloitte’s Stockholm office. This session laid the foundation for a comprehensive vision document, or “Manifest,” that will guide the development of a prototype digital product. The workshop focused on defining the value proposition, long-term objectives, and social impact of the ICMD, ensuring alignment with RWI’s mission to promote justice and accountability in humanitarian law.

Driving Impact Through Innovation

Deloitte’s structured, three-step process will provide critical support at every stage of the ICMD’s development, from vision-setting and technical blueprinting to the creation of a clickable prototype. This prototype will demonstrate the database’s potential and attract the investment needed to bring it to full scale. The partnership leverages RWI’s expertise in human rights and humanitarian law with Deloitte’s technological and strategic capabilities, highlighting the power of collaboration to address global challenges.

A Shared Commitment to Accountability and Justice

“Deloitte’s commitment to collaboration underscores the importance of leveraging corporate expertise to advance compliance with international humanitarian law. This partnership exemplifies how private sector partners can co-create innovative solutions with us to address some of the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges,” said Peter Lundberg, Executive Director of RWI.

“Our collaboration with the Raoul Wallenberg Institute demonstrates our commitment to making an impact that matters,” said Jens Gullfeldt, Partner at Deloitte. “We are proud to bring our expertise in digital transformation and strategic advisory services to help advance international humanitarian law compliance, a critical step toward a more equitable and sustainable future.”
